VIDEO BITRATE
Video bitrate calculator, size meets bitrate.
Estimate video file size from resolution, frame rate and duration, or reverse-calculate the bitrate for a target size. Runs locally in your browser.

What can this tool do?
Do the maths before uploading: enter resolution, frame rate, duration and video/audio bitrate to get the estimated file size. Or work backwards from a target size to find the video bitrate needed at the chosen resolution and duration. The right panel lists recommended bitrates for 720p, 1080p and 4K. Real file size also depends on encoder efficiency and keyframe interval, so treat this as a theoretical estimate.
FAQ
How is the file size calculated?
Size in bytes = (video bitrate + audio bitrate) x duration. A bitrate in kbps is kilobits per second; multiply by seconds and divide by 8 for bytes, then convert to MB or GB.
Is a higher bitrate always better?
No. Bitrate beyond what the picture needs just wastes space. The recommended bitrate at 30fps is usually clear enough unless motion is heavy or you need high-quality re-editing.
