What can this tool do?
Convert freely between MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC and Opus — handy for turning recordings or video soundtracks into the format you need: WAV is lossless for editing, MP3 is small for sharing, Opus and AAC sound better at the same bitrate. Output bitrate, sample rate and channels are adjustable, and you can enable loudness normalisation to rescue quiet recordings. Everything runs locally; files are never uploaded.
FAQ
Does MP3 to WAV lose quality?
No extra loss. MP3 is lossy, so decoding it back to WAV only restores the uncompressed waveform; information discarded during compression cannot be recovered, but the conversion adds no new loss. If your source is WAV or FLAC, keep the original format.
Why is the WAV output so large?
WAV is uncompressed, so size is roughly sample rate times bit depth times channels times duration. At 44100 Hz, 16-bit stereo that is about 10 MB per minute, which is normal. Pick MP3, AAC or Opus with a lower bitrate when you need a small file.
