What does this tool do?
Make scans, phone photos of documents or old pictures clearer and more readable: automatically remove the paper background tint (colored worksheets and yellowed pages become white), boost contrast so text is darker and crisper, and correct color casts with white balance. Everything runs locally — ideal as a pre-step before OCR for higher recognition accuracy.
FAQ
Does removing the background erase the text?
No. Background removal stretches the background color toward white per channel; text pixels are already much darker and are kept. If it goes too far, just lower the slider.
Can the result be used for OCR directly?
Yes. Click “Copy image”, open this site’s “Image to text OCR” tool and press Ctrl+V to paste — checking “Grayscale” usually helps recognition.
Are my images uploaded?
Never. All enhancement and export happen in your browser; the image never leaves your device.
