How to read it: rows are terms, columns are years
Each row is one solar term, read left to right from 2024 to 2036. The table starts at Minor Cold and ends at Winter Solstice, following the lunar calendar convention (the terms are the solar component of the lunar year, anchored by the winter solstice). For any year full list with exact times to the minute, use the solar terms tool.

日期按北京时间(东八区)归日;表为日期速查,精确时刻见站内节气查询工具。Dates are given in Beijing time (UTC+8); this is a date reference only - exact moments are in the solar terms tool.
Why the dates shift by a day or two
A solar term is the moment the sun reaches every 15 degrees of celestial longitude: one orbit of 360 degrees split into 24. A tropical year lasts about 365.2422 days while the Gregorian year has 365 (366 in leap years), so each term falls about 6 hours later every year, and a leap year pulls it back a whole day at once - the entire reason for the wobble. Each term stays inside a small window: Lichun always falls on 3-5 February, Dongzhi on 21-23 December. The terms are purely solar and have nothing to do with moon phases or leap months, which most distinguishes them from lunar festivals.
The four "li" terms and the equinoxes and solstices
Lichun, Lixia, Liqiu and Lidong cut the year into four seasons; the equinoxes split day and night evenly and the solstices mark the longest and shortest days. These eight anchors sit at multiples of 45 degrees of longitude - the classical "eight nodes" forming the skeleton of the system. The other 16 describe climate and phenology: Minor and Major Cold are the coldest stretch, Minor and Major Heat the hottest, and names like Jingzhe, Qingming and Bailu are direct field observations. In 2016 the twenty-four terms were inscribed on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list.

FAQ
Are Lichun and Chinese New Year the same thing?
No. Lichun is a solar term (longitude 315 degrees, 3-5 February); Spring Festival is the 1st of lunar month 1 (set by the moon, floating between late January and mid February). They can differ by nearly a month - the source of the two zodiac-switching conventions.
Why is Dongzhi sometimes on 21 December and sometimes on 22?
Dongzhi is the moment of longitude 270 degrees. The tropical year is about 6 hours longer than the Gregorian year, so Dongzhi drifts 6 hours later each year and a leap year pulls it back a day - cycling between 21 and 23 December. The Dongzhi column across 2024-2036 shows this wobble.
Can solar term dates be computed wrongly?
Dates agree exactly with the Chinese astronomical almanac; only the precise minute-level times can differ by seconds between algorithms. Our tool uses the Meeus apparent-longitude method with Newton iteration, verified against published benchmark points for 1900-2100.
