RAIL FENCE CIPHER
Rail fence cipher, reorder by rails.
Enter text and a rail count to encrypt or decrypt. The common CTF “group-then-read-columns” rail fence splits plaintext into groups of the rail count, then joins columns.

What is this?
Split the plaintext into groups of the rail count, then join the 1st characters, 2nd characters, … of each group. With 2 rails, “HELLOWORLD” → HE-LL-OW-OR-LD → column 1 “HLOOL” + column 2 “ELWRD” = “HLOOLELWRD”. Decryption reverses with the same rail count.
FAQ
Is this the zigzag rail fence?
No. This uses the CTF-common “group and read columns” form; the zigzag version lays letters in a W across rows then reads row by row. If a result looks off, try another rail count or check the puzzle hint.
